Following up on yesterday's post, here's a bigger picture. I seem to have found a hydrant with a crooked cap. As for the material, it's some type of metal.
This is so cool. I love the birds' eyes (owl?, eagle?) and then what appears to be a muzzle where the hydrant opens. Do the dogs give this artwork any respect or do they fight over ownership?
Antjas: I thought they were dogs or something. Now I'm confused. Maybe some mythical creature?
Paula: One vote for the present time: I think workers have better conditions in many parts of the world nowadays.
Leif: We've got red ones too. I'll see if I can find a photo to show tomorrow.
Hilda: :-)
Angela: Technically, they're in Brugg which is a neighboring town. The ones in Villigen proper are boring, but in Stilli, they have interesting ones. Search for "hydrants" on this blog.
AB: Do you get a warm fuzzy feeling? I find them ominous. I think it's those scowling eyebrows.
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Camera and other information at the foot of the page. 20150322

So much detail for a thing like that. Now, most things are so basic and without any beauty. Those were the times.
Wow - that's quite a fancy, ornate fire hydrant! Our hydrants are usually painted red. That one looks somewhat old?
This is the most gorgeous fire hydrant I have ever seen!
Are all the fire hydrants in your village as ornate as this? Such a thing of beauty!
It looks like it is welcoming you with open arms.
