Thanks for the postcard which arrived today -- there has been a postal strike here for the last five days otherwise it might have arrived sooner.

Is it drying out? In preparation for the wine harvest. Barrel making is fascinating - you would expect it requires far more modern technical precision than it does, which makes it a real example of a skill. I put it alongside thatching as an ancient skill which still fulfills it's original function perfectly, despite modern improvements/substitutes. Sometimes things get invented that just cannot be improved on. The original bicycle design is another one - give or take some tinkering

This picture captures Autumn really well to my mind. A slight sense of decay, the browning leaves on the ground and an upturned barrel by an used old wooden door. Great pic Z!

Curious position before a beautiful door. But why is it there ? I think it is empty. May be lost, fallen from a trailer ?
