Is it drying out? In preparation for the wine harvest. Barrel making is fascinating - you would expect it requires far more modern technical precision than it does, which makes it a real example of a skill. I put it alongside thatching as an ancient skill which still fulfills it's original function perfectly, despite modern improvements/substitutes. Sometimes things get invented that just cannot be improved on. The original bicycle design is another one - give or take some tinkering
This picture captures Autumn really well to my mind. A slight sense of decay, the browning leaves on the ground and an upturned barrel by an used old wooden door. Great pic Z!
Thank you all for your visits and comments. I apologize for not returning your visits, a bit pressed for time at the moment but I promise that I will come by when I can.
Bucefalo and Maria Elisa: Welcome to my Villigen blog and thank you for your kind words.
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Camera and other information at the foot of the page. 20150322

Thanks for the postcard which arrived today -- there has been a postal strike here for the last five days otherwise it might have arrived sooner.
It is a lovely couple of pictures.

Curious position before a beautiful door. But why is it there ? I think it is empty. May be lost, fallen from a trailer ?
Coloros and shents of autumn, right shot.
Love your photos
