Rooftops

A view from Besserstein. In my opinion, the yellow house (brighter in reality than it appears here) in the middle of the photo is the stateliest in Villigen. Just a few steps to the right of it are some of the subjects of previous posts: Number 5 with the green door, Fountain 1854 (aka Mühlebrunnen), Fountain 1878, Fountains 1878 and 1854 together.

I cropped this photo from one in a landscape format that I have on my overflow site. Please feel free to share any thoughts on which one looks better and why, and also any suggestions for improvement. Link: Rooftops uncropped.

HI Z, How did you get this overhead photo? I like the rooftop shots.

Thanks for commenting about the cotton. "The Painted House" is possibly the only Grisham novel I haven't read yet. I'll have to get it.

All the rooftop and "aerial" photos are from Besserstein, the hill that overlooks Villigen. I go up to the top once in a while, and always enjoy the photo ops.

Funny, TPH is the only Grisham that I've read! :-)

Ya, how did you take the pictures?
Prefer this one; more focused and balanced. The other one is much more open to diversion, which actually is not that bad... but I prefer this!

I love this photo! While there's nothing wrong with the uncropped photo, there so much right with this one. It's powerful in its shapes, colors and crispness. You did the right thing in cropping it, I believe.

I prefer the uncropped one. I like the sweep of the road, and the way the two areas of greenery divide the composition up. However they are two different types of images. If the idea is to have a composition of roof angles and shapes, then I can see why you cropped it, to focus interest

Oh those tidy Swiss images! How do they do it?

Re jewelry...I think it's a bit of both, and there will have to be trade off between low cost foreign manuf and EU import duties (perhaps - tho' these are not enormous). No top notch jewelwr ever shows the price in the window. And I'm sure you're right about the haggle. My punjabi daughter in law is an endless haggler.

Thanks for the feedback! For the purposes of the post, I think the cropped image is more appropriate, though like Richard, I like the other one a little more.

Chuckeroon: I'll come by your blog to respond. The matter of the missing price tags reminds me of the saying: if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.
