Who and why
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Camera information
My current camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 (2014). Main lens: Panasonic 20mm f/1.7. Zoom/macro: Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8. Until mid-2014 I had an Olympus PEN-EP2 (2010). Up until June 2010 I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 (2006). Occasionally there may appear photos taken with either a Nikon Coolpix 950 that I've had since 2000 or a used Nikon Coolpix 990 I acquired in 2009.

It must be very trying to live covered with ice and snow for a few months. We simply do not have extremes here in Australia.
You have composed a lovely photo here, Z. Very clean lines to it.
We don't have the snow but they cut our trees the same way to keep them away from the power lines.
Your last few photos have a lovely stillness.
You have caught a tree perhaps enhanced, rather than crippled, in this way! Very nice. I have thought about capturing one or two such sacrificial trees around here, but their stories would be sadder than this one.
From what people tell me, this cold blast we're having is not normal for this region. In any event, I'm thankful for our toasty warm apartment and not being consumed by thoughts of how to pay for the heating bill. We're very blessed.
