Who and why
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Camera information
My current camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 (2014). Main lens: Panasonic 20mm f/1.7. Zoom/macro: Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8. Until mid-2014 I had an Olympus PEN-EP2 (2010). Up until June 2010 I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 (2006). Occasionally there may appear photos taken with either a Nikon Coolpix 950 that I've had since 2000 or a used Nikon Coolpix 990 I acquired in 2009.

Is it cane or is it raffia. What about the paper on the label?
aha ... the bamboo slats ... or were you classifying that as cane? And said cane is wound together with wire which is made from steel not from metal. Tenuous? okay okay ...

Could be bouded reeds straws or thin bamboo rods.
Your pictures are documents from the past.
The green glas is for making fruits durable in boiled water.
The white bottle is for spirits.
The green bottle is for sterilized apple juce.
Down the exhaust pipe ther is a big vat for heat water.

I do not think so excepted shadow and sun. Nice photo. It looks kile a painting.
Just an old fashined collection. I remember the straw covered bottles from when I was a kid in Yugoslavia - is it for Chianti?

The straw basket that many chiantis come in is called a fiasco, btw. ;-)

Wellingtonia: Cane covers the category of all grasses as far as my dictionary says, so reed straw or bamboo is included. :-)

Tash: That would have been my guess too, but I'm no expert on all the uses of such bottles.

Greg: Thanks for the information. I had no idea. My OED says that the word in English usage comes from exactly what you say, but that the reason for it is unexplained. Of course, you also know the use of the word Harass in CH to mean a bottle crate.
