Photos from Villigen, Switzerland and surroundings
Not exactly the boundary of the entity that is Villigen, but this is one edge of where the built-up area starts. The speed limit on the road correspondingly drops to 50 kph (31 mph) from 80 kph (50 mph). The highway speed limit is 120 kph (74mph).

Ummm ... this does not appear to be particularly built up!
What does AG stand for?
Your graded speed limits are very much like ours here: 110 on expressways; 100 in the countryside; 80 in the city; 60 in busy areas; 40 around schools. If the authorities want to raise money, they put the changed signs close together to confuse us poor motorists.
In France 50kph in city 90 on the road and 130 on highway (excepted when it's raining 110)
Such attractive countryside over there!
