The Besserstein woods in September

A view of the woods overlooking Villigen to the west. To those who were eagerly awaiting the next installment of my scintillating report: I'm sorry, I didn't manage to get it done. A result of the combination of having other things to do and getting distracted by all sorts of statistics. Such as these on the rates of marriages and divorces in Switzerland over the last 3 years. About half the marriages are between a Swiss and a non-Swiss... should lead to interesting changes in demographics. According to binational.ch, in 2003 Swiss men mainly married women from Germany, Brazil, Thailand, Italy and France. Swiss women, on the other hand, most frequently married men from Italy, Germany, Turkey, Serbia and France. Note: These numbers apparently reflect marriages that are performed in Switzerland, they don't include the couples who get married outside CH.

Beautiful photo z.
The statistics are quite revealing, aren't they.
Swiss woman/Foreign man=low divorce rate
Swiss Man/Foreign woman=high divorce rate
Also the trends...

I got that the wrong way round - can you fix it?

Richard: I can only delete it, and then it will say "deleted by blog owner" or something like that. If that's what you want me to do, I'll do it, but then you'll have to repost the "beautiful photo" comment... :-)

I'm fascinated by all these trends. As more voters swing to the right (in an attempt to preserve "Swissness" maybe), more personal choices regarding family are being made that should make the country more diverse. As for the differences in divorce rathes of the two groups, I have theories, but I need a more detailed breakdown of the non-Swiss spouses to see if any of them make sense.

Interesting statistic,we just have ours too for 3 years trend and Cologne divorce case is getting less which is a good sign caused the regierung expected that will be more babies come as Germany has so less young generation.

Your pretty photo would be nice for screen saver or poster

If those couples would only take a walk once in a while in that enchanted forest I’m sure they’d find a better way. Lovely shot.

@z - we can just leave it. You can't edit comments in blogger? I agree it shouldn't be done except to correct typos or at request of the poster, but the blog owner should have the choice

my husband's just back from the state of Washington....and he says the pic reminds him so much of the surroundings there in The Evergreen State :)

That is so interesting. I didn't expect that many international marriages in Switzerland.
