Daily photo theme day: Red

Geraniums, especially red ones, are very popular in window boxes in Switzerland. You might be familiar with photos of the dark brown mountain chalets with copious red blooms in the windows (links to photos at other sites: 1, 2, 3). This particular window box belongs to a house on Hauptstrasse. Over the course of the week, I think I'll show you other windows.

This month, nearly a hundred DPers are participating in the theme. See red all over the world:

Z, Really beautiful image for our theme day. I love it!

Re. your question about post dating: in Blogger dashboard on the left toward the bottom you will see Post Options. Click on it, and you can change the date and time to whatever you would like. I do this on theme days as I am so far west in the time zones and usually one of the first to list for the theme. I hate for someone to visit and not find the theme up yet, so I post the afternoon before if I can (when the Asian and Australian/NZ folks day starts. Thanks for visiting SDP!

How clever - just enough room on a window sill to fit a planter! Oh, those Swiss ;-)

they are beautiful. I remember when I visited Switzerland in the 80's. I loved the big houses with the window boxes.

One of my favorites today; perhaps THE favorite. There is a delicacy and picturesque quality to it.

I love geranium, especially the really red ones, but mine seem to come out kind of orangy most of the time. I love these!

Flower boxes in the windows are always nice. With a splash of red and some iron grating makes the photo especially pleasing.

Geraniums are very popular in Russia too, though we don't have a tradition of 'out-of-window' plants.
Nice choice of red!
