Who and why
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Camera information
My current camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 (2014). Main lens: Panasonic 20mm f/1.7. Zoom/macro: Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8. Until mid-2014 I had an Olympus PEN-EP2 (2010). Up until June 2010 I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 (2006). Occasionally there may appear photos taken with either a Nikon Coolpix 950 that I've had since 2000 or a used Nikon Coolpix 990 I acquired in 2009.

Diese Dinger sind Ohrmarken,auf einer ist der Besitzer und auf der anderen die Stammdaten vermerkt der Kuh vermerkt wenn mich nicht alles irrt.
These things are ear tags on one of the owners and is noted on the other hand, the master noted the cow if I'm not mistaken.
Sorry nur Googleübersetzung bin des Englisch nicht sehr mächtig..

Even cows need license plates if you are going to keep track of their pedigree, innoculations and stuff.

Hilda: They do seem such gentle creatures, don't they, with their soft eyes.
And as ilcuoco has already explained, and Conch elaborated, the ear tags are IDs for the cows. The analog to the hot iron branding one sees in US cowboy movies.

Conch: Milk, plenty of it. Cheese making, not so much around Villigen.
