Habsburg castle
Ten kilometers from Villigen. Habsburg castle was first mentioned in an official document in 1108 and this year they're celebrating the 900 year anniversary of the building. The original fortress was probably built in the 1000s and this place served as the seat of the Habsburg dynasty that ruled much of Europe for some time. The castle is now a museum with a restaurant.

Is this house in the front newly built? I don't remember this. I remember this to be a huge field and an agricultural zone. No one should be allowed to build houses there. Makes me angry I have to say.

I'd love to visit this place, I like the idea that somewhere so old is still functioning!

Neat. I love castles and old stuff. It's amazing how well things were built back in the days before modern science and engineering.

Kris and Halcyon: I share your feelings. Exactly how old the building is as can currently be seen, I don't know. But, certainly very old.
