Not too far from here a large wheatfield just right cut the farmer was making the balls. The stubble caught fire and a large part of the filed and a lot of balls burnt and the machine too !
The more I looked at this image, the more I could feel an itch coming on - it took me right back to when I was a child helping my father with the wheat crop. Look at that straw dust that is being kicked up - not too good for my adult-onset asthma.
This is a very satisfying image. He has worked hard; has achieved much; just a little left to mow; and he's coming straight at us.
I started this blog in Jan 2007 as a member of the City Daily Photo family representing the village of Villigen. I'm a transplant to Switzerland and keeping the blog was a way for me to keep a record of new things I learnt while sharing with others. I was on a long LONG break, and now I post only sporadically although I still have hopes of posting more regularly. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Wow. Is it time to harvest already? The summer always goes by too quickly!
Halcyon is right! In month time already we will have the grape harvest coming. A very nice photo, by the way!

Halcyon: This lot was ready to harvest, but there are other crops just coming up. The corn is tall, should be ready in a short while.
Blognote: Thank you! And welcome to Villigen.
Claude: I've heard of this happening. What a dreadful thing!
Once again, you love the geometry of lines, yes?
