Excursion: Moosalp in Valais

Cows grazing in Moosalp. The stocky black cows are from Hérens in Canton Wallis/Valais. They're prone to fighting. An old post of mine related to these cows and cow fighting, Swiss style (not to fret, no gore):
Excursion: near Saas Almagell in Valais

Two more cow photos from this trip are up at my overflow blog:

Such a crisp, clear day! Switzerland must not have ANY pollution!
I wonder if these might be black angus cattle.

I know you are currently in the midst of summer - and some of your recent images have been from under shade. But this clearly shows that distant mountains are still snow-laden. Are they ever totally free from snow? What is so gorgeous about this image is that it has interest right along the line of perspective.

Aah now to the cows! I thought when you mentioned Swiss cows on my blog that you probably meant hairy horny ones. This sort of animal does not thrive in Australia because of our constant heat.

I do enjoy my little hikes around your beautiful land-locked country. Although you probably have the world's most gorgeous lakes - along with Canada.

We used to go to the cow fights in the old arena in Martigny. It was always fun choosing your favorite and rooting for him.
