Baustelle

Construction site.

Quite a bit of house building activity has been going on in Switzerland recently. Cranes such as this one can be seen in almost every locality.

Take me back to the mountains!!

At least this is surrounded by woods, I guess. What sort of housing is there in Villigen - a mix of Swiss and genera/modern/anywhere? Do they still build houses in the old wooden style?

Julie: Not so much of the old wooden style anymore, but those houses are under conservation protection, so they're maintained. New houses are mostly brick or concrete, though a growing number is made of wood-elements. They're not exactly pre-fab, they're mostly made-to-order but they're made in workshops where the insulation, windows, cabling etc, are all incorporated and they're then assembled on site. The foundation and so on are, of course, made of concrete. But, that's not really what you wanted to know...

Maybe it's time to do some general village photos again.
