Sunflowers

We also have sunflower fields, among the other food crops. In the background is one of the edges of Villigen.

That's a lonely looking sunflower poking it's head up there. I liked your comment about my "jewel-like" flower - it does have that kind of effect

Interesting. Sunflowers that are grown here are harvested for the seeds which are sold to consumers.I assume that is the same where you live. Or do you have other uses for this marvelous plant? Nice photograph.

Oh sunflowers! They always bring a smile with them, don't they?

It seems that sunflowers are quite the popular flower.

Claude: That's interesting. In the later stages, they do look at the ground when they become so heavy with seeds. But, in their earlier days, they're all sun-facing, and sun-tracking.

Abraham: I think the same is done here. Seeds to be used as is, to be pressed for oil, to be used in breads. Yes, just saw a sign for sunflower seed bread at the local bakery today.

Love these. My wife just put some dead ones into the garbage bin. So sad they don't last forever... :(
