Schloss Schartenfels
Schloss Schartenfels near Baden (technically in an area called Wettingen) is a restaurant with a view. All winter I took photos of it, but didn't like any of them because of the lack of contrast given the absence of leaves on the trees. I took this yesterday and I think I'll keep it. If you want to see the location from which I took the photo, see this old post (20070623). On the roof of the building is the Manora restaurant and they have a terrace which offers nice photo opportunities. (Map of Schartenfels' location)

beautiful restaurant lost in the forrest ! View from the terrace is surely very pretty...
It is definitely a beautiful photo. Is the food at the restaurant any good? What kind of food do they serve -- medieval German food, perhaps? Or haute cuisine?
Claude: On a beautiful, clear day you can see to the snow topped mountains from the terrace.
Ming: I haven't been there to eat (yet?). But, I did take a quick look at their summer menu (available through their website, to which I linked). Things like gazpacho, potato-wasabi soup, tuna steak with tomato and mango salsa, eggplant gnocchi (in addition to the usual things like steak and cutlets). Not very German.
The photograph is nice. The building looks almost like a toy set up somewhere along a miniature railroad. It is so heavily forested. The food you have mentioned sounds good to me too. I like your photo and the narrative.
Thank you for visiting my blog.

Two robins were fighting in my backyard and I managed to capture them in the act.

Is it an actual old castle converted to a restaurant or a recent building?
The menu does sound rather nouvelle cuisine...
Tough competition, really. What place in Switzerland doesn’t have a view? :)
Isabella: I tried to find that information, but haven't been successful. It must be somewhat "old", though perhaps not "European standard old". :-)
We really must go there one day.
Per: I could show you a few. :-)
