Cherries for sale
Local cherries for sale at the produce stand I showed two weeks ago. Tafelkirschen means table cherries, meant for consumption in the fresh form. The price here is much lower than what the supermarkets charge (though still more expensive than the imported ones, I think): 6 Swiss Francs (CHF or SFr) for one kilo = 3.4 Euro for one kilo = 2.2 USD for a pound.
If you missed it a few days ago, cherries on the tree can be seen here.

At this rate, we'll get tired of them pretty soon.
We've got "pick your own" raspberries on line at the moment, just as the strawberries are finishing.
I think it's a good price, here cherries cost about 4,5 euros. Do you put them on your ears like the children do?
Cherries are more expensive here, and $2.20 sounds like a steal to me! Those are really beautiful, too. Such a deep red color, I'll bet they are delicious.
It's cost more than what Alice said in Koeln :o( are they sale a VIP class cherry for us? ;o) I wish I was in Arradon or Villigen now
JB: Cherry burnout?! Is it possible?
Alice: No, I haven't tried them on my ears, I've been too busy eating them. What about you?
Victoria: Indeed, they are quite delish!
Beetle: You must not begrudge me the affordable cherries. Everything else seems to be much cheaper across the border... :-)
Oh ! They are very beautiful ! and not expensive ! Your are lucky !
Oh, I want some cherries! They can't be grown in this region, so they are hard to find and expensive, too. I saw them for sale a few days ago for $5.99 per pound and was tempted to buy them until I ate a sample. They were watery and tasteless. For $5.99 per pound!
love the rich color....
Cherries are $1.99 to $2.99 per pound here depending on where you get them. The high end grocery stores are obviously more expensive than the Chinatown street market.
kilos, pounds, euros, francs, dollars -- I'm lost -- I just buy half a dozen or ten, let the greengrocer weigh them and calculate the cost.
Wow these are good -- just priced them up at the greengrocers in the market -- they are labelled as £8 per kilo [that is about 12 euros] or £3.66 per ib [that is about US$7] so yours are a bargain.
They appear to be American, possibly Latin America rather than US so they've crossed the Atlantic to get here!
I love cherries! This year the late May and June rain was definitely no good for cherries in Portugal. So prices jumped: 3.80 euros/kg or, for better quality, 5.80. But if you go to the Gourmet Club from El Corte Ingles you may get some foreign cherries looking like small potatoes and tasting accordingly at 8.90 (eight euro ninety cent)/kilo... Avoid it! The rest at the Club is however generally OK, though expensive...
Thanks for writing this.
