Mountain road (driving up to Hellela)

One of the reasons that I enjoy living here is that one can get to pretty much any place in Switzerland within 4 (3 if you're not going to the mountains) hours of driving. It can take a little longer if you use public transportation and want to go to one of the smaller places, for example, those that are not inhabited year round. We made an overnight trip to Hellela in canton Wallis (Valais) over Saturday and Sunday and I took this photo from our car as we were driving up the mountain road. I must have taken about 300 photos over the course of our visit!

cool!! beautiful road!!
you're right, I was some days in Slovenia and it's such a tiny place you can get anywhere in a few hours, even you can easily get into another country (Italiy, Croatia, etc) in a few hours! Something unexpected in Spain (well you can get to France or Portugal but... it's far away too)

It’s a spectacular place on earth. We’re considering systematically using some kind of map to help the reader locate all our shots. I imagine you could make use of such a facility as well? I guess you’re moving in bigger circles than we are but the question remains the same: where was this taken?

...just want to say that I look at all your photos and think that all are very pleasing to look at.
Perfect framing and exposure.

A bit too cold for me, too!

But I enjoyed visiting Villigen, virtually ;-)

Breathtaking views! Almost as impressive as the mountains in Minneapolis! :))
Hope to see more from your trip!

Glenn: Believe me, I'm very appreciative of what I have around me here!

dsole: Oh yes. In fact, the 4 hours that I mentioned in the post, that was really to get to the mountains. If you stay near sea level, then you can get everywhere within 3 hours. For us in Villigen, it is about 45 minutes to the German border, and a little over 2 hours to France.

Per: that's a good idea. When I take photos as a passenger from the car, I could try to get the coordinates from the GPS system. I should try it next time. At any rate, I can probably use a map to find out where we were when I took this shot.

Gerald and Isabella: It wasn't cold, except in the shade. In fact, up where we were it was very warm!

Ohle: That's a wonderful compliment! Thank you!

C&D: I'm not going to post anymore from that trip right now. Need to show off spring in these parts first! However, I am considering starting a second blog, as an appendix to this one, as others have done. Just need time, which seems to be at a premium. :-)

An appendix can be a good thing...
