These boots were made for...

Liegende Figur (1998) by Roman Signer (Swiss, b. 1938): The Reclining Figure (my translation) greets people on their way to the PSI cafeteria or the Forum. Rather boring in the winter, these boots are animated in the summer when the pulsing water jets under them are turned on.

From the Carnegie Museum of Art:

Signer’s "action sculptures" involve setting up, carrying out, and recording "experiments" or events that bear aesthetic results. Following carefully planned and strictly executed and documented procedures, the artist enacts and records such acts as explosions, collisions, and the projection of objects through space.

It looks like someone was blown out of their boots! ;)

I was trying to keep the gruesome out of this, but now you've gone and done it! :-)

Guess who forgot his boots today while venturing outside for a lunch stroll in the sunny snow-landscape? Feet cold in my indoor-shoes and unable to step wherever I wanted in the snow... :\ Gah.

LOL! Funny shot Z! Either blown out or shrunk away...cold has that effect I believe! =)

Per: How can you possibly forget to put on proper shoes to go outside in Sweden at this time of year?

Ame: It's a funny piece of "art". Almost impossible to photograph with no snow around, because of the black-on-grey color scheme. I'll take a stab in the summer anyway, when the water is turned on.

Good question... :)

We had no winter at all until only a couple of weeks ago so the habit is not quite there yet. And I was in a hurry to make something out of my lunch hour and nervous that the generous sun would vanish any moment.
