Fountain across from Volg

Not to be confused with the fountain across from Vogt (the Mazda dealer — Volg is the grocery shop). This one was previously seen here.

After the Brugger Jugendfest

Every summer there's a Jugendfest (die Jugend = the young, das Fest = festival) in Brugg and every summer I miss it. I did manage to get some photos of the now-decaying decorations which I will share with you. Here is the fountain with a statue of Justice that I've shown before. If this LinkWithin widget thing is worth its salt, it should display a link to the post below...

The fountain in the shadow

We're back in Villigen. Can you even see the fountain? This one has been a difficult one to photograph because of the shadow cast by the house on the left and the wide range of light intensities in the area.

Detail fountain 1808

Another small fountain tucked into the old town of Brugg. The towers seems to have gone on a diet compared to the one from 1696.

Fountain 1696

One of the fountains in the old town area of Brugg. The design on the shields is the emblem of Brugg, showing the tower and the old bridge. Related posts here: Red locomotive and here: The tower and the bridge.
Location: Spiegelgasse.

Trash pick-up day

Thursdays are when our trash is picked up. Notice the orange rectangles on the bags? They're stickers that we have to buy to pay for trash removal. They come in different sizes: 35 liters, 60 liters, 110 liters.
The fountain is the one that was in this old post:

Street corner

The building on the left is the the same one as seen through the Hirschen window in the post from July 12th. The chapel and a barn I've shown previously are barely visible in the background, at the end of the street that snakes off to the left. The building on the right is the Schwarz outlet center where I buy vegetables sometimes. Next to it, but not visible in the photo, is the house with the buntings from a couple of days ago. The fountain in front, with the red geraniums, is Meierhof Schmittenbach.
NB We're actually having rather gloomy weather right now and this blue sky is from a week ago.

One dog in the fountain

Nothing like fresh cool spring water to soak in on a hot day... lucky dog! Don't miss my overflow post featuring dogs being transported:

Fountain Halseisen

The fountains around Villigen are getting labels and I've learnt that this one is Halseisen. It has appeared on this blog before (The fountain across from Vogt), but not dressed in its summer finery.

Fountain Villigen 1854

There are two fountains in a row, this one and the one from yesterday, the one built in 1878. Visit the overflow site to see them together in one photo. This bigger (and potable water) fountain seen here seems to be upstream from the other. A sign at the back indicates that some renovation work was done on it in 1997.
Notice the planters with red geraniums on the column. Almost all the fountains in Villigen (some ten of them) are adorned in this way in the summer. Stay tuned for more photos over the next months.

Fountain Villigen 1878

It's been some time since the last fountain post (click on the label below to see the old ones). Here's one with non-potable water. There are two more photos of the iron grill and the hydrangeas in the background at the overflow site. This batch of photos was taken with my seven year old Nikon Coolpix 950 (my first digital) camera.

Past the tulips in the yesterday's post, you'll come upon this fountain. The fourth one on this blog so far. There are several more to come.

Fountain: Villigen 1841, with dog

Another fountain. I didn't notice the dog drinking out of it until he was almost done, so I don't have better pictures. Other posts featuring fountains:

Fountain, and gate with wisteria

In the early days of this blog, I wrote that Villigen has many fountains (20070124). Let's step back from Hirschen (the building in the shadows to the right) to look at one of them. The gate with the wisteria growing over it looks very nice to me.

First snow of the year
There are some ten fountains in Villigen (which seems a lot for a village of this size) and one of them is pictured here. This one might be called "Brunnen bei der Brücke", I have to check. Most fountains in Switzerland have potable water and if they don't, they have a sign on them labelling them as such. In the German speaking areas, the sign says "Kein Trinkwasser." This particular fountain is fine to drink from, as far as I know.
