Blossoms and bee house

In the background are two apiaries. A lot of bees were buzzing around the blossoms, but try as I might, I wasn't able to get a decent shot of them.

Location: Somewhere around the Auenstein woods, about 17 kms from Villigen.

Cuckoo flower, again

They're back again this year! Here is last year's post (a better photo, actually, but I like the textures in this one better).

Eddies

These streams and eddies were what I was observing from the bridge yesterday.

Blackbird

I was on my way to the library and had stopped on the old bridge in Brugg to look at the churning waters of the Aare down below when this bird caught my ear with his exuberant song.

Does anyone know what tree that is? It seems to be perennial.

Aare

Just before the bad weather rolled in, I was able to capture this shot of some of the islands in the Aare beyond the newer Brugg bridge. This perspective is one that's difficult to get as there's no pedestrian walkway on this side of the bridge (the left side as seen in this previous post). I happened to be on the bus during a little bit of a traffic jam and voila!

Snow and sunshine

I hadn't expected to see the sun today but there it is. All this snow has melted in the two hours since I took the photo.

True to the forecasts, we're having some decidedly bad weather.

The charm of everyday things

This windchime has been visible from our bathroom window for as long as we've lived here, but I only just noticed it this month.

Seedlings

If I had been a good citizen and had attended the open house that Schwarz organized yesterday, I might have been able to tell you all about their ecologically-minded seedling production. But I didn't, so I can't.

Zürichsee

More Richard's territory, this is (or can be, depending on the weather conditions) the view from Die Waid restaurant. See the 1920 pixel by 1440 pixel version by clicking on the photo. I hesitate to say it for fear of drawing attention to the poor quality of my photos, but in the foreground, just below and to the left of the smokestack, is the Bluewin building that some of you might have seen on the Zürich blog.

In some places, a couple of prime parking spots next to the handicapped-designated ones are earmarked for women. This particular one is at the Trafo in Baden.

The newer bridge in Brugg

The new bridge over the Aare in Brugg is where I stood to take this shot of the old bridge which is located to the right. Click the photo to see a 1920x1440 version. At the top of the image, a faint shadow of the snow-covered tall mountains is visible.
