Flowers in a sleigh

I've had this flower display in mind for a post for months now, and I kept thinking that I would take a better photo. Well, that hasn't happened and the geraniums may well be gone for the year by the time I walk by this house again. This is a photo from June, I'm sure I have a more recent one that has more blossoms but I was unable to locate it in the time I have right now.

Camper

Complete with solar panel.
I'm back from my time away, but still rather pressed for time so it'll be a few days before I can respond to all of the much-appreciated comments that were left while I was gone. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be participating in the tags because of time constraints, but who knows...

Rush hour

On Hauptstrasse near Restaurant Schlossberg around 7 in the morning. The 'traffic jam' is caused by a slow moving farm vehicle.

Bird house and Besserstein

The flag on top of Besserstein can be seen peeking though the branches on the lower left corner of the bird house.

Kleiderbörse

Once in a while we have a community flea-market in the village. On the 20th of this month, there's one for winter clothing and toys in the Turnhalle in Stilli. Note to self: must get a photo of the Turnhalle. Here's a photo of this barrel from April 2007.
I'll have spotty access to the internet over the next ten days and while I have a button-pusher to publish for me, I may be a little delayed in responding to your comments.

I have no idea what this is or was intended for, I'm sure one of my nice readers will tell me.

Beaufort

Someone's special horse. This sign is on a small stable/barn just off Hauptstrasse. In preparing this post, I learnt that the Beaufort scale is used for describing wind speed. How appropriate.

Balcony with prayer flags

Interesting juxtaposition of the age-old Tibetan prayer flags with the steel-cable balcony railing. I could file this under my "the old and the new" collection. For a larger view of the balcony, see my overflow blog:

Hiltl in Zürich

Hiltl is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Europe, dating back to 1898. I like them a lot and am always happy to recommend them and their offshoot, Tibits. I enjoy their smart advertising campaign, and recently they made clear their position on the far right political group SVP (I've mentioned them a few times recently). There's a photo on my overflow site of the postcard.
If you're a dedicated meat eater, would you try Hiltl once?
The photo turned out poorly, and I resorted to Photoshop chicanery to make it more interesting.

A slightly older baby in Villigen

This is a birth announcement that was up for a while in May in Villigen. The signs are always different, with different motifs so far as I've seen. Almost makes me wonder if they're homemade. Yesterday I showed a stork with a bundled baby and toys in Baden. Here's a depiction of Mowgli with Baloo from Kipling's The Jungle Book as interpreted by Disney. And as you see, the date of birth is stated, and I guess it's clear that the baby is a boy.

A new baby in Baden

I really like the way the birth of a child is announced around here. Not all the signs are this elaborate though, which is why I wanted to show this one even though it's not from Villigen.
Are there similar ways of announcing babies where you live?

Up on Besserstein

Besserstein is the hill that overlooks Villigen and affords a great view of the surrounding area. I've posted several photos from up there, click on the besserstein label below to see them and other related posts.
It is thought that there was a hideaway at the top in the late-prehistoric times. It is also thought that there was a watchtower built by the Romans, however no actual ruins have been found. What does exist is a pile of rocks as seen here, and a few WWII era bunkers.
Today is Theme Day, the monthly community project of the City Daily Photo group. The theme for October is cemetery and since Villigen doesn't have one, I've decided not to participate but I wanted to allude to the theme. To look through the posts from the rest of the community, visit the Daily City Photo Blog portal.
